Scholarships and Bursaries

Working Together

CFUW North Vancouver

CFUW NV provides bursaries to women graduates both in high school and in the lower mainland’s post secondary institutions.

From BC Gaming grants we provide CFUW NV criteria-based awards for graduating female students from the six North Vancouver School District 44 secondary schools, plus its Learning Together Program for Pregnant and Parenting Teens.

Jane Thorntwaite presents BC Gaming $12,000 cheque for education awards.

We have permanent endowments at Simon Fraser University, Capilano University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. As well we give a $1,000 yearly award at UBC. We are in the process of funding an endowment at UBC.

CFUW West Vancouver

In keeping with CFUW goals to encourage advanced study and research by women and to cultivate excellence in education, CFUW WV supports post-secondary students.

Locally, the club maintains an Educational Trust Fund, which enables us to underwrite two Endowment Funds at Capilano University for mature women students. These funds provide annual scholarship awards.

In addition, with funds awarded by the BC Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch, CFUW WV has created several Gaming Education Awards. These are given to young women entering their first year of post-secondary study and to women studying in fields where they are under-represented.  One-time awards are sometimes given with the proceeds of special fundraising events.

At the national level, we support the CFUW Charitable Trust, which gives scholarships to women for graduate studies.
