2nd Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Members read an eclectic selection of 10 books. At the June meeting, the reading list is compiled for the following year.
“Hot- off- the- Press”:
The group meets monthly on the first Monday afternoon in the homes of members. One member reviews the book and leads the discussion. Books are chosen in June of each year with the emphasis on new books, both fiction and nonfiction.
2nd Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Discussion around author, personal views of book read and reviews. The June meeting is a pot-luck lunch where next year’s reading list is planned.
Arts and Faith
based partly on Juliet Benner’s book “Contemplative Vision.” This monthly Zoom interest group would incorporate brief analyses of Christian-themed paintings from art history and the contemporary era, as well as some spiritual practices from the ancient monasteries. It will be a year-long course, on the third Tuesday morning of the month 10:00am to 10:40am (or longer) beginning September 15th, 2020. This group needs a Zoom host to help make it happen. Being Different Together
I will offer some learnings from my seminary courses about differences in people in order to gain a fuller understanding of human diversity and flourishing. The weekly series of seven Zoom workshop lecture sessions would each have a Q and A period at the end of a brief presentation beginning October 15, 2020, 10:00am to 10:40am for 7 Thursday mornings in a row until November 26, 2020. Contemplative Life Writing
The writing consists of learning techniques from contemporary Creative Non-Fiction writing and learning to give peer feedback. Dames Who Dine
Usually Wednesday evening near the end of the month. Members will eat dinner in a variety of restaurants on the North Shore, each paying their own bill. A toonie collection will be taken to fund local charities that support women.
International Studies Group
CFUW, as a whole, has UN and GWI links. Members explore international issues affecting women. Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM.
Issues and Advocacy Group
Issues and Advocacy is designed to keep abreast of issues at the local, provincial, (BC Council) National (CFUW) and International levels (Graduate Women International) and to inform both clubs of advocacy deemed necessary within the goals and policies of CFUW. The group also takes the lead in organization of public forums to encourage discussion and action on the part of attendees.The Group meets the3rd Friday of each Month September to June.
Members meet to exchange information about technology. Discussion topics include computers, the Internet, various new digital hardware, and our website. Meetings are at 7:15 PM the first Tuesday of October, December,
February, April and June.
Interest and Study Groups are open to all paid up club members.
